Weather will worsen again in Uttarakhand, alert of heavy rain in eight districts
Dehradun. The weather patterns may change once again in Uttarakhand on Saturday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert indicating the possibility of heavy rain in eight districts of the state. Due to continuous rains, the risk of landslides and rising water level of rivers in hilly areas has also increased. The administration has been instructed to remain alert.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain with thunder in many districts including Dehradun on Saturday. Orange alert has been issued for Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Bageshwar districts, while yellow alert has been issued for other affected districts.
Possibility of heavy rain in eight districts
Director of Meteorological Department, Dr. Rajendra Kumar said that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in eight districts of the state on Saturday. These include Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital and Champawat districts.
There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning in these districts. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert and keep an eye on the weather conditions.
Orange alert in Chamoli Rudraprayag and Bageshwar
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Bageshwar districts. With heavy rains in these districts, there is a possibility of the situation suddenly worsening in the hilly areas.
An orange alert means that weather conditions may be severe and people need to take special precautions. The administration has also been instructed to keep preparations related to disaster management active.
Rain alert in Dehradun also
It was predicted that the rainy season will start in the capital Dehradun from Friday night itself. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain here till Saturday.
Due to rain, there is a possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic getting affected. The administration has instructed the concerned departments to remain alert.
Increased danger in hilly areas
During heavy rains in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand, the risk of landslides, road blockage and rising water level of rivers increases. The administration is also continuously monitoring the weather conditions on the Chardham Yatra routes.
Due to rain, many times problems like falling of stones on hilly roads and road closure occur. In such a situation, travelers and local people have been advised to exercise caution.
Appeal to people to be careful
The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains. Especially in hilly areas, people have been asked to maintain distance from rivers, drains and landslide affected areas.
The administration has also instructed disaster management teams in all the districts to be prepared. Relief and rescue teams have been kept on alert to deal with any emergency.
Warning for farmers and tourists also
In view of the rain alert, farmers and tourists have also been advised to remain alert. It has been asked to carry out activities in the fields and tourist places only keeping in mind the weather conditions.
Monsoon is currently active in Uttarakhand and it is raining continuously in many areas. The Meteorological Department says that rain may continue in many parts of the state in the coming days.
Administration increased surveillance
After warning of heavy rain, the district administration has increased surveillance in sensitive areas. The disaster management department has been asked to be prepared to deal with any situation.
