Western Railway to add 11 non-AC local train services starting April 5
The Western Railway (WR) has decided to add 11 additional 12-car non-AC local train services on a trial basis starting April 5. Sumit Thakur, the chief public relations officer of WR, Monday said that after the introduction of the additional services, the total number of daily local train services will go up to 1,394.
However, some services that are being introduced will skip halts at Borivali and Bandra stations. There will be minor changes in the timings of some of the existing services as well, the official added. Over 27.24 lakh commuters use the local train network under the WR on a daily basis.
79 AC local train services that have become popular among commuters. In January 2023 alone, about 24.53 lakh passengers travelled on AC trains and the number of such passengers since April 2022 is over 1.79 crore.
