Why are Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav silent on election violence in Bengal – Sambit Patra

New Delhi (IANS). Describing the violence during the panchayat elections in West Bengal as unexpected, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra has alleged that elections and violence have become synonymous words in Bengal. Talking to the media at the BJP national headquarters, Patra said that counting is going on in Bengal today but ever since the nomination process for the panchayat elections began in the state, 45 people have been murdered in the state.

He stressed that the killing of 45 people during the panchayat elections in Bengal, despite the presence of Central Forces, shows how the state government is carrying out these killings in a sponsored manner. Describing it as a state-sponsored murder of democracy in West Bengal, the BJP spokesperson said that the murder of all the people who have been killed is sponsored, institutional murder and everyone from the police administration to the district officer is involved in it.

Questioning the silence of other opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav, on the situation in Bengal, Patra said that if the same scene was coming from a BJP-ruled state, there would have been an outcry.

Describing the efforts of the grand alliance as a grand alliance, he said that where are all these leaders, who stand holding hands in the states? He said that where is Rahul Gandhi who opened the shop of love today? Where are Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar? Not a single word has come out of the mouth of any one of these leaders regarding the situation in Bengal. Whereas in Bengal, along with BJP workers, workers of Congress and Left parties are also being killed.

Referring to the ever-increasing violence in elections during the tenure of Mamta Banerjee government, the BJP spokesperson said that 15 people were killed in the 2013 Panchayat elections, 23 people were killed in the 2018 Panchayat elections and this time So far 45 people have been murdered in the 2023 Panchayat elections.

Strongly condemning the killing of people and the murder of democracy in Bengal, the BJP National Spokesperson alleged that there was a lot of violence in the elections and today even during the counting, people have to take shelter in the neighboring state of Assam.

Patra further added that the BJP has formed a committee of four leaders to probe. The matter has also gone to the court. The Home Ministry has also sought a report. Naturally, the government and the party will take appropriate steps for further investigation.

Responding to a question about water-logging in Delhi, Patra said that it has been Kejriwal’s old attitude that he does politics by putting his responsibility on others.

He said that when he spends crores of rupees on his publicity, then he should also take the responsibility.

Describing the controversial statement given by Gehlot government minister Rajendra on Lord Shri Ram and Mata Sita as sad, he said that this is not a new thing for the Congress. The former national president of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, believes that Lord Ram does not exist and whose government had given an affidavit even to the Supreme Court, this is her nature.
