Why did Anjum Sharma refuse to read the book ‘Sultan of Delhi’ for her role?
Mumbai: Actor Anjum Sharma has revealed why she did not read Arnab Ray’s ‘Sultan of Delhi’ as she felt it would spoil her perception of playing a Bengali in the series directed by Milan Luthria.
Talking about her adaptation of the Bengali character, Anjum said: “In the first reading with Milan sir, I started developing the character and understanding his background.”
He said, “Although I had the book from the beginning, I decided not to read it, because I had already chosen a path in which I wanted to see my character.”
Anjum said: “I thought it would be best for me not to read the book, as it would create a different perception of the character in my mind which would hamper my preparation.”
The period crime thriller series based on Arnab Ray’s book ‘Sultan of Delhi: Ascension’ is produced by Reliance Entertainment and directed by Milan Luthria and co-directed and co-written by Suparn Verma.
