With India meeting postponed, the opposition is facing another curveball from its own member
On a day when the Congress accepted the promise and decided to postpone the meeting of the alliance INDIA had called unilaterally for Wednesday to the disgust of the allies, on Tuesday the Opposition faced another ball curve thrown by one of the suns.
Member of DMK Lok Sabha D.N.V. Senthilkumar referred to the Hindi belt states as “gaumutra states”, to the dismay of many in the Congress.
Although the reference was deleted by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, it was picked up by various BJP leaders and used to point to the alliance with India, linking it with the call of the DMK leader, Udhayanidhi Stalin, for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma.
Senthilkumar apologized for his comment in a publication.
The incompetence of M.K. de DMK. One of the reasons for the placement is that Stalin attended Wednesday’s meeting called by the President of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, due to the concern over the response of the state government to the situation of floods in the state.
Other party leaders who did not hesitate to attend Wednesday’s meeting were Bengal’s principal minister, Mamata Banerjee, the Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav, and the CPM’s general secretary, Sitaram Yechury. Apart from Stalin, it is also understood that the first minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, sought a change in the date. The minister principal of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, is not feeling well.
It was decided that a meeting of the leaders of the parliamentary party would be held at Kharge’s house on Wednesday and the meeting of the leaders of the party would be postponed to the third week of December.
“A coordination meeting of the leaders of the parliamentary parties of the alliance INDIA will take place on the afternoon of 6 December at the residence of the President of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge. Later, a meeting of the presidents of the parties will be scheduled/ heads of the alliance in the third week of December at a date convenient for all”, announced Gurdeep Singh Sappal, coordinator in the office of the President of the Congress.
