With the change in weather, the Public Health Department has issued guidelines for dengue prevention.

Tamil Nadu: The Department of Public Health has advised district administrations to strictly enforce guidelines for preventing dengue-carrying mosquitoes in light of the changing weather. The department warned that changing weather, irregular rainfall, high temperatures, and unusual atmospheric changes create favorable conditions for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, the primary vectors of dengue fever.
According to health department officials, viral infections and weather changes pose a risk of increased mosquito populations, which could lead to an increase in dengue cases. Therefore, regular surveillance and prevention campaigns need to be strengthened.
The department also noted that dengue cases were high in Tamil Nadu a few years ago, putting pressure on the health system. However, due to the joint efforts of local bodies and the health department, a significant reduction in cases and mortality rates was recorded last year. The goal is to further reduce this rate.
The health department has issued several important directives in this direction. All districts have been instructed to immediately upload information about dengue cases to the Health Department’s official website, ensuring real-time data availability and timely action.
In addition, instructions have been issued to regularly monitor mosquito breeding sites, prevent waterlogging, and pay special attention to cleanliness. The department has also urged local-level campaigns to be intensified to reduce mosquito breeding.
Government hospitals have also been instructed to strengthen free dengue testing facilities. Emphasis has been placed on maintaining adequate stocks of necessary equipment and test kits so that the testing process is not disrupted under any circumstances.
The Health Department has directed all districts to ensure continued prevention and awareness activities to control dengue cases in a timely manner and protect the general public.
