Woman Comes into Contact with a Broken Live Electrical Wire
A tragic incident occurred near Sholavaram on Monday morning, where a 55-year-old woman lost her life due to electrocution. The woman, identified as Kanaga, lived alone and was employed under the MGNREGA scheme. The accident was caused by a high-tension wire that had fallen onto the road the previous night, unnoticed by the locals.
In the early hours of Monday, Kanaga stepped on the live wire and was instantly electrocuted, leading to her death. The local community found her and informed the authorities, who then disconnected the electricity supply to ensure safety. The police responded swiftly to the scene, where they recovered her body and sent it for an autopsy.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway. An official from the TNEB stated that an inquiry has been initiated and the deceased’s family will be compensated with a solatium of 5 lakh rupees.
