Woman murdered by cutting with an axe

Gumla. Basanti Toppo (45 years) of Lauki village located in Peebo Panchayat of Raidih police station under Gumla district was murdered by Eric Kerketta (30 years) of the same village on Monday midnight. Basanti has been brutally chopped off by the leg. The head has been banged on the road. Due to which the rag of the head flew away. After killing Basanti, the accused lifted the body on his shoulder and threw it into the river under the bridge. Raidih police station in-charge Amit Kumar along with the police force reached the village on Tuesday morning and recovered the body. Eric Kerketta, accused of murder, has also been arrested by the police. Basanti forbade her son to stay with Eric. That’s why Eric killed Basanti. According to the villagers, after killing Basanti, accused Eric carried the body on his shoulder two kilometers away and threw it under the Timdu bridge in Jamgai village. On receiving information about the incident, SHO Amit Kumar, ASI Jasmuddin Ansari and Ranjay Kumar Singh along with the team reached the spot on Tuesday morning. On Monday night, Basanti Toppo was sleeping after having dinner with her children. That’s why Eric Kerketta of the village came near his house in the night and started making noise. The door of Basanti’s house was opened. As soon as Basanti Toppo opened the door, Eric Kerketta hit her on the head with a leg. Dragged him to the road. Where mercilessly started lifting and throwing. Then lifted him on the shoulder and took him a kilometer away from the house. Where Basanti was stripped naked. The accused himself also got naked. Threw the cloth on the road. Then picked up Basanti from there and threw her near the turning point going to Jamgai village. Due to which the skull bone and brain of Basanti’s head were scattered in the middle of the road. The accused did not calm down even in this much. Picked him up from there and threw him in a 20 feet pit under the Timdu bridge of Jamgai village and fled towards Palkot.
