Woman raped in moving train in MP
Satna: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a moving train in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni district, a Government Ferroviaria Police (GRP) official said on Monday.
Officials said the incident occurred when the woman boarded the MEMU Jabalpur-Rewa train at Pakaria station between Satna and Katni sections on Sunday night.
Satna GRP police station in-charge LP Kashyap said that Pankaj Kushwaha (23), a native of Banda (Uttar Pradesh) and resident of Katni, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The accused allegedly stopped the woman near the bathroom and raped her.
He said he escaped and informed the GRP at Satna station, after which a team was sent to take the person into custody.
The accused was locked in the bathroom and when the train reached Rewa, he broke the lock and was arrested, the officer said.
He said, since the crime took place under the jurisdiction of Katni GRP, the case was handed over to them.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarika Pandey said they are investigating the criminal history of the accused.
