Women of Lakshmi Self-help Group have made Dona-Pattal their source of income
Raipur. Dona-Pattal is in demand for all events small to large. 10 women from gram panchayat Chhotedongar of Narayanpur district started the work of making Dona Pattal by forming a self-help group, and these women are earning good profits from it. Narayanpur district is covered with trees, so leaves for Dona Pattal are available locally. It is collected from the forests by the women’s group. The group prepares 1000 bundles of Dona-Pattal in a month, earning them up to Rs. 6, 000 per month.
The group’s president, Asun Bai, stated that there was very little profit because Dona-Pattal was not sold at a reasonable price. With the establishment of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) by the State Government, Dona-Pattal is now sold at a reasonable rate in the local market and in other districts.
The women of the group stated that they are engaged in farming along with manufacturing Dona Pattal in their homes. They expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel for launching RIPA; they said that Dona-Pattal manufacturing and sale were easy after RIPA’s establishment. All the members are very happy with this, as they now have an additional source of income.
