Women protested in Sandhol
The women of the Sandhol area under the electoral district of the Assembly of Dharampur of the Mandi district organized a protest in Sandhol demanding to fill the vacant posts of medical specialist in the Hospital Civil de Sandhol. The hospital attends panchayats of seven villages of Sandhol tehsil. Due to the lack of medical specialists in the hospital, the residents of this region faced inconveniences or had to travel to distant places to have better medical facilities.
Punam Thakur, a protester, said: “This hospital has spent a lot of time without gynecologists, pediatricians, orthopedic surgeons and radiologists. “Due to the lack of gynecologists, pregnant women and other women face enormous difficulties in accessing medical services here”.
“The X-ray and ultrasound equipment installed in the hospital are useless because there are no radiologists available to operate them”, he commented.
“We will ask that all the vacant medical posts be filled as soon as possible to guarantee better medical facilities to the residents of the Sandhol zone. Let us call on the Minister Principal, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, to investigate the issue and take necessary measures to resolve our problem”, he added.
The BJP leader of Dharampur Rajat Thakur also supported the cause of the protesting women and said that the MLA of Dharampur should take up this issue with the Minister Principal to resolve it. There is an urgent need to fill these vacant posts in this hospital.
The medical director of Mandi, Narendra Bhardwaj, said that this issue was under the consideration of the state government. Five MBBS doctors were available in this hospital to provide treatment to the patients, he added.
