Women upset with betting, gambling and liquor sales in the village, demonstrated in front of the collectorate

Dhamtari. Villagers of Kachna village of Karud assembly constituency protested at the collectorate. The villagers who came to protest under the banner of Bahujan Samajwadi Party alleged that betting, gambling and liquor business was going on openly in the village.

Villagers said that despite continuous complaints, the police and excise department are avoiding taking action. Due to drunkards and hooligans, it has become difficult for the women of the village to come out. When the women of the village go to the pond to take bath, the miscreants create ruckus under the influence of alcohol.

After listening to the complaint of the villagers, the Excise Department officials say that the complaint is serious. Action will be taken by going to the spot with the police team. The Excise Department has assured the villagers that they will take action soon. For a long time, complaints of selling illegal liquor are being heard in the rural areas of Kurud. When the police proved unsuccessful in stopping the sale of liquor, the villagers demonstrated at the collectorate.
