World’s first Tamil hyperlocal social app launched

Chennai: With a vision to bring the global Tamil diaspora closer, Minmini has been created as a place where Tamil people from all over the world can come together and feel a sense of camaraderie and togetherness. Users can chat with each other, create private and public groups, and connect seamlessly with other app users.

MinMini will be a digital platform for various multi-channel networks as well as content creators, citizen journalists and verified reporters who have been carefully selected by the team.

The app also intends to bring remote people who have never been on social media into the digital world through its easy-to-use navigation features.

At Minmini, “verified” status cannot be purchased using currency, but is awarded by the company based on individuals’ qualifications and social status. Initially, verified reporters from the extended media community will be invited and identified with a “blue tick” along with their handles, to let users know they are reading/viewing content from trusted sources.

Over time, individual users who share qualifying content with other users on the platform and create meaningful impact will be upgraded to “Verified Partners”.

Minmini executive vice president S. Sharing his excitement on the launch, Sriram said, “We are extremely proud and excited to launch MinMini, which is exclusively focused on the global Tamil community. We are confident that our users will enjoy the app’s unique interface, the various interesting features we offer among other revenue opportunities for creators.

“We believe advertisers will be able to reach the last village post in India through Minmini, given the hyperlocal content and the connect we are creating through our app,” he said.

Thousands of small shops are being mobilized across Tamil Nadu, through which the MinMini app can be downloaded using QR codes.

These “Minmini Shops” will also be featured prominently on the app, so users can discover the various products and promotions offered by the shopkeepers.

“We estimate that there are more than 40 lakh shopkeepers, service providers and self-employed entrepreneurs and businessmen across the state of Tamil Nadu. We intend to give many of them a digital-first presence to connect with their target segments through the app”, says Sriram.

The app will over time include thousands of service providers like electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc. in every locality of Tamil Nadu state, so that users can instantly search for such personnel. With its unique advertising package for small and medium businesses, MinMini will provide an ultra-competitive way to reach the desired audience.

“For advertisers and brands, MinMini will provide last mile reach to the last taluk of Tamil Nadu through our unique pin-code level targeting,” says Sriram.
