Social media giant, Meta’s WhatsApp recently added a new feature that allows users to lock their personal chats by setting a secret code or using biometric authentication methods like face unlock or fingerprint. Here’s how you can instantly lock your chats and set a secret code to retrieve them:
Open the WhatsApp app and long press the conversation you want to lock.
Press the three-dot menu on the top right corner of the screen and tap ‘Lock Chat’.
Click on the ‘Continue’ option and confirm using biometric authentication methods like face unlock or fingerprint.
To set a secret code for a locked chat, you can follow this process:
Open the WhatsApp app and go to the ‘Locked Chats’ window.
Tap on the ‘Secret Code’ option and WhatsApp will ask you to create a secret code.
Create the secret code, press the ‘OK’ button and you are ready to go.
Chat locking will also disappear from the chat list. To open the chat, you need to type the secret code you just set in the search bar.
