Youth Missing After Falling Into Drain in Bhubaneswar, Rescue Operation On
Bhubaneswar: A 35-year-old man went missing after falling into an open drain in the capital city of Odisha today afternoon. The incident has taken place near in the Patharabandha slum in Vani Vihar area.
The missing youth has been identified as Anil Singh, a native of Keonjhar who is living in the Patharabandha slum, in Bhubaneswar.
According to locals, Anil was reportedly collecting garbage when the incident occurred around 2:30 PM on Saturday. Police said Anil was passing near the drain when he allegedly slipped and somehow fell into it. He was then swept away by the strong current of water.
Locals who witnessed the incident immediately informed the fire services. A special team from Mancheswar Fire Station rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and search operation. The search was underway till late evening.
The incident has caused tension in the area. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor also reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Authorities said efforts are on to trace Anil, but there was no trace of him till the last reports came in.
