Koraput: An Anganwadi supervisor from Koraput district of Odisha was arrested on Thursday for taking bribe of Rs 50 thousand. She is a supervisor at the Laxmipur Block.
The accused supervisor has been identified as Renuka Pattanaik.
As per reports, a short while ago the accused Renuka Pattanaik was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.50,000 from a new Anganwadi worker (Complainant) in lieu of her engagement as Anganwadi Worker under Laxmipur Block.
The Anganwadi Worker had recently joined in her post. Since then, the accused demanded a payment of Rs 50,000 threatening to disallow her smooth functioning otherwise.
Being poor and unable to meet the exorbitant bribe demand of Rs.50,000, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities, narrating her harassment by accused Pattnaik.
Following this, the Vigilance sleuths nabbed Pattnaik, Anganwadi Supervisor today, while taking the demanded bribe Rs.50,000 from the complainant.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Pattnaik from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S Case No 14/2025, U/s 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.
Investigation is in progress against accused Pattnaik, Anganwadi Supervisor.
