Dr. Farooq pays tribute to Maulana Syed Qasim Shah Bukhari

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday paid rich and heartfelt tributes to renowned scholar, polymath, and former Muhtamim of Tableegh Ul Islam and Hanfiya Arabic College, Noor Bagh, Hazrat Maulana Syed Qasim Shah Bukhari (RA) on his 26th death anniversary.
Recalling his towering intellectual and spiritual legacy, Dr. Farooq said the late scholar shared a profound and enduring association with Sher-e-Kashmir, a bond deeply rooted in scholarship, piety, and mutual respect.
“Sher-e-Kashmir held Hazrat Maulana Syed Qasim Shah Bukhari in the highest esteem for his erudition, moral integrity, and spiritual depth,” he said.
“Allama Bukhari dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of students and scholars, illuminating countless minds through his distinguished works on Islamic theology, jurisprudence, and Tasawuf,” he added.
Dr. Farooq further lauded the scholar’s remarkable commitment to making knowledge accessible to the masses. “A visionary in every sense, Allama Bukhari translated numerous classical Persian and Arabic texts into simple Urdu and Kashmiri, bridging the gap between scholarly tradition and common understanding,” he said.
Highlighting his contribution to linguistic preservation, he noted that the scholar played a pivotal role in strengthening the Kashmiri language, including the translation of the Holy Quran into Kashmiri, an enduring contribution to the region’s cultural and spiritual identity.
“It is incumbent upon today’s scholars and students to draw inspiration from such towering personalities who devoted their lives to knowledge, faith, and the service of humanity,” Dr. Farooq said.
