3 BSF soldiers injured in attack on security forces in Thoubal
Imphal: Three Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers were injured in firing on security forces by unidentified armed assailants in Manipur’s Thoubal district. Police officials gave this information here on Thursday. The injured BSF personnel have been identified as Sobram Singh and Ramji, both serving as assistant sub-inspectors (ASI), and the other has been identified as constable Gaurav Kumar. According to officials, “some armed cadres of unidentified groups” attempted to attack the Thoubal district police headquarters late on Wednesday night and opened fire on security personnel, who repelled the attack.
After which BSF soldiers suffered injuries. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Imphal. A police officer said the mob targeted the 3rd Manipur Armed Battalion headquarters at Khangabok in Thoubal district. “Security forces dispersed them using minimum necessary force. Additionally, the mob attempted to breach the Thoubal police headquarters, following which the security forces had to use force. Armed miscreants opened fire indiscriminately from the crowd. As a result, three BSF personnel sustained bullet injuries”, a police statement said. As a result of the incident, a complete curfew was imposed in Thoubalt and security has been tightened across the district.
