3,000 teams of Nagaon ready for Khel Mehran
Nagaon: The last review meeting regarding Nagaon district for the upcoming Khel Maharan to be held from November 1 across the state was held on Monday in the conference room of the District Commissioner’s Office, Nagaon. The meeting was presided over by DC Narendra Kumar Shah.
Addressing the meeting at the beginning of the meeting, Additional District Commissioner (Sports) Lakshya Jyoti Das took stock of the team formation, ground preparation and distribution process of sports equipment and other preparations and issues.
District Sports Officer Manash Protim Das said Nagaon has so far confirmed more than 3,000 teams and competitions are to be organized under Khel Maharan in 24 village panchayats of the district on November 1. He also informed that from November 1 to November 15, Village Panchayat/Urban Local Body level competitions are to be organized in 172 village panchayats and 4 urban local bodies of the district, as per the schedule already prepared by the concerned authority. District Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah sought cooperation from the nodal department as well as all the concerned departments for successfully organizing the program and described it as a collective effort to bring out the hidden sports talent in the district.
Chief Executive Officer of Nagaon District Council Ananth Kumar Gogoi, Block Development Officer, District Information and Public Relations Officer of Nagaon, Physical Trainer of District Sports Office, Joint Secretary of Nowgong Sports Association Ujjwal Barua, Executive Member of Nowgong Sports Association Gauri Shankar Roy along with District administration and other concerned officials of the District Sports Office were present in the meeting.
