47 students of BMCRI admitted to hospital, know the reason
Bengaluru: At least 47 students of Bengaluru Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) have been admitted to hospital after complaining of diarrhea and dehydration, officials said on Saturday.
According to BMCRI Dean and Director Ramesh Krishna, 47 girl students of the institute’s girls hostel were admitted to Victoria Hospital on Friday.
Of these, 28 are in Trauma Care Centre, 13 in H Block and three in ICU for observation.
All of them were suffering from diarrhea and dehydration.
He has been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.
“Tests have been sent and antibiotics and IV fluids are being given. We are waiting for the report,” he said.
A doctor at Victoria Hospital said, “All the students are now stable. They have been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis. Although cholera is suspected, we are waiting for the report for clarity. The report is expected soon.”

The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday said six confirmed cases of cholera have been reported in the state so far this year, five of which were reported in March.
