Lok Sabha elections: MGP supports BJP
Panaji: MGP, a coalition partner of the BJP-led government in the state, on Sunday announced its support to the saffron party for the Lok Sabha elections in both North Goa and South Goa constituencies.
The decision was taken at the central committee meeting of the MGP, which has only two MLAs in the 40-member state assembly.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar said the party has decided to support the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in the interest of the state.
Dhavalikar asked party representatives and workers to refrain from making any derogatory remarks in public, adding that the party will not tolerate any indiscipline and will take appropriate action against anyone found guilty of violating party norms. Will take strict action.
The Central Committee also accepted the resignation of former MLA Naresh Sawal, who left the party last month as he was unhappy with the party leadership and accused it of not focusing on grassroots workers.
The panel also dissolved all working committees of the party and appointed new office bearers.
