Karnataka News: Toll fee on four highways in Karnataka increased by 3-25%
Bengaluru: The NHAI has said that from June 3, vehicle users will have to pay 3%-25% more to use the Bengaluru-Mysore, Bengaluru-Hyderabad and Tumakuru-Honnavara highways and the Hoskote-Devanahalli section of the Satellite Town Ring Road (STR). The hike is linked to the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) and was to come into effect from April 1, but was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections. The new charges will be applicable till March 31, 2025. NHAI Bengaluru regional officer Vilas P Brahmankar told DH that the toll revision was to come into effect from April 1, 2024, but was put on hold.
The toll charges for the Bengaluru-Mysore highway have been increased by 3%, while vehicles using the STRR will have to pay 14% more. The NHAI has started collecting toll on the 39.6-km-long Doddaballapur-Hoskote section of the STRR on November 17, 2023. NHAI project director KB Jayakumar said toll collection on the Dobbspet-Doddaballapur section (42 km) of STRR will likely begin after June 15. He told DH that the NHAI has selected an agency for toll collection and the charges will be notified soon. The section is open to the public and is toll-free. The charge will be collected at the Hullikunte toll plaza. Cars/vans/jeeps using the Bengaluru-Mysore Bengaluru-Mysore highway will have to pay Rs 330 one-way as against Rs 320. The charge for the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta section will be Rs 170 and between Nidaghatta and Mysore Rs 160. The toll will be collected at Kaniminiike (Bengaluru Urban), Seshagirihalli (Ramanagara) and Gananaguru (Mandya). Doddaballapur-Hoskote
The toll fee between Doddaballapur bypass and Hoskote will be Rs 80 (single trip), Rs 120 (return trip) and Rs 2,720 (50 trips in a month) for cars/vans/jeeps against Rs 70, Rs 105 and Rs 2,375 earlier. Light commercial vehicles, light goods vehicles and minibuses will have to pay Rs 135 (single trip), Rs 200 (return trip) and Rs 4,395 (50 trips) against Rs 115, Rs 175 and Rs 3,835 earlier. Trucks and buses (two axles) will have to pay Rs 275 (single trip), Rs 415 (return trip) and Rs 9,205 (50 trips) instead of Rs 240, Rs 360 and Rs 8,040 earlier. Non-commercial vehicles within 20 km of the toll plaza will get a monthly pass at Rs 340, up from Rs 330.
