Jalandhar: 3 more arrested in Pipli village attack case
Jalandhar: Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested three more suspects in connection with the brutal attack on the family of ex-serviceman Balwinder Singh in Pipli village of Lohian. The arrests have been made as part of the ongoing investigation into the violent incident that took place on August 3. With this, the total number of arrests has gone up to 13. The three arrested suspects include Mandeep Singh of Billi Chaharmi, Pradeep Singh of Akbarpur Kala and Harpreet Singh of Noorpur Chattha. The trio is believed to have played a key role in the pre-planned attack, which was carried out over a land dispute.
SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said, “These suspects not only participated in the attack but also helped in causing large-scale damage and theft.” Lohian SHO Labh Singh made the arrests. On the night of August 3, a group of around 100 people led by the main suspects forcibly entered the house of Balwinder Singh in Pipli village. The assailants attacked Balwinder Singh with knives, assaulted his wife Kashmir Kaur and ransacked the house, stealing valuables and causing extensive damage to the property. The attack was allegedly carried out by two NRI brothers – Dara Singh and Darbara Singh – who are currently living in England. The dispute was related to 10.5 acres of land, which the NRI brothers had bought and wanted to take possession of by force.
