Every year 21st October is celebrated as “Police Memorial Day” to honour the 10 brave martyred police personnel who were martyred in an ambush by Chinese soldiers in the Hot Springs area near Ladakh on 21st October, 1959. In the same sequence, today, “Police Smriti Diwas” was organized in Police Line Dhamtari and floral tribute was paid by reading out the list of brave soldiers martyred across the country and brave martyred police personnel of the district who sacrificed their lives while performing their duty in various fronts and encounters by Superintendent of Police Dhamtari Shri Anjaneya Varshney. The martyrdom of the martyred soldiers of the district including a total of 216 martyred brave soldiers across the country from September 2023 to October 2024 was remembered today. After this, Collector Namrata Gandhi and public representatives, family members of the martyrs, social workers, senior citizens and retired police and army officials and police officers and jawans paid tribute and remembered their sacrifices and all the police officers paid tribute by laying flowers at the Martyr’s Memorial. After this, Collector Dhamtari and Superintendent of Police Dhamtari met the families of the martyred soldiers and enquired about their well-being.
