Tamil Nadu’s coalition formula applies to Puducherry too: Exclusive interview with Girish Chodankar

Tamil Nadu: Girish Chodankar, All India Congress Committee in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Congress, has said that the BJP, which eliminated strong parties in Bihar and Maharashtra, will ride on the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu to destroy it.

The election campaign is in full swing, and the Tamil Nadu election dates are expected to be announced in the next few days.

The Congress, which recently finalized a seat-sharing arrangement with the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu after a long tussle, is still in its early stages, and no progress is visible in Puducherry.

In this context, Girish Chodankar clarified the party’s position on various issues regarding the current electoral field, actor Vijay’s relationship with Thaveka, and the future of the alliance in an exclusive interview with Dinamani’s M.A. Paranitharan, R. Rangabhasyam, and Ramkumar.

You have only 28 seats in the seat-sharing arrangement and one Rajya Sabha seat from the DMK. Is that why you fought for months? In the last election, we won 25 seats from the DMK. This time, we have secured 28 seats, along with a Rajya Sabha seat. The vote count results aren’t always acceptable to everyone. So, should we assume that the Congress is unhappy with the seat sharing? Alliances are formed through sacrifice. Although we’re unhappy, we are happy for now. Our current focus is on facing the assembly elections. We can only think about strengthening the party after the elections. Do you think the Congress missed the opportunity to form an alliance with Thaveka? No Congress leader has insisted on forming an alliance with Thaveka. The media interpreted my comments as meaning that Thaveka recognized our strengths and Rahul’s leadership and offered to share seats differently, and reported on that.
