Domestic LPG cylinder price increased by Rs 29, new prices applicable from June 7

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: The price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder used in homes has been increased by Rs 29. These new rates have come into effect from Sunday (June 7). After this increase, the additional burden of household budget on common consumers has increased. This is the second time in the last three months that domestic LPG cylinder prices have been increased.
Government oil companies have taken this decision in view of the continuous fluctuations in crude oil and energy prices in the international market. Public sector oil companies are facing cost pressure due to rising global fuel prices and supply imbalance. For this reason, the prices of domestic gas cylinders have been revised.
According to the new prices, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Chennai has increased from Rs 928.5 to Rs 957.5. Whereas in Delhi its price has been increased from Rs 913 to Rs 942 per cylinder. This increase will directly impact domestic consumers, especially middle and lower income group families.
Oil companies say the recent rise in crude oil prices in the international market and geopolitical tensions have affected energy supplies. The situation of tension and potential conflict between the US and Iran, especially in West Asia, has disrupted the global energy supply chain. Due to this, a rise in fuel prices has been recorded at the international level.
Earlier on March 7 also, the price of domestic LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 60. Even at that time, global conditions were cited as the main reason. This increase for the second consecutive time has increased the economic pressure on consumers.
Apart from this, there has been a change in the prices of not only domestic gas but also other fuel options. According to the information, the price of CNG gas used in cars and automobiles has also been increased by about Rs 6 per kg. At the same time, fluctuations in the prices of petrol and diesel are also being seen according to the international market.
Experts believe that there is little hope of stability in domestic fuel prices as long as uncertainty remains in the global energy market. If the international market does not improve in the coming time, consumers may have to face further price increases.
On behalf of the government and oil companies, it has been said that this revision in prices has been done on the basis of market conditions and cost structure. However, consumer organizations have expressed concern over this increase and have demanded measures to reduce the economic pressure on the general public.
Overall, this increase of Rs 29 in the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is going to have a direct impact on the domestic budget, and the impact of the international energy crisis is now clearly visible in the Indian market as well.
