Chandrayaan-3: ISRO family’s ‘penance’ of 73 days was successful, see HD photos
Sriharikota. The ISRO family’s 73-day penance has come to fruition with the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3 on the ‘Bahubali’ rocket LVM-3, a senior official of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said on Friday. Addressing the gathering at the Mission Control Center of Satish Dhawan Space Center after the successful launch, Chandrayaan-3 Mission Director S. Mohana Kumar said that it was 73 days of penance for the ISRO family.

The penance has finally paid off with Chandrayaan-3 weighing 3.8 tonnes being placed in the desired Earth orbit. At around 2.35 pm, the ‘Bahubali’ rocket LVM3 left for space with Chandrayaan from the launch pad number-2 of the space center and Chandrayaan separated from it after about 16 minutes. Now gradually Chandrayaan’s orbit will be changed and it will be sent to the moon at the appropriate time.
LVM3 rocket has been nicknamed ‘Bahubali’. Kumar said that continuous improvement has been made in it. It will be used for India’s Gaganyaan mission in which the country’s astronauts are to be sent to space. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for the Department of Space, who was present at the control centre, said, “It is indeed a proud moment for the country.
