Relief to Minister D. Sudhakar from Karnataka High Court, interim stay on FIR

Bengaluru (IANS). Karnataka High Court on Friday gave a big relief to Planning and Statistics Minister D. Sudhakar. The court put an interim stay on the investigation against the minister in the alleged land grabbing and atrocities case.

A bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna issued this order while considering the petition of Minister Sudhakar. The bench had issued an emergency notice to the government and asked it to file objections. The case has been adjourned till October 3.

Yelahanka resident Subbamma had filed a complaint against Minister D. Sudhakar and others at Yelahanka police station on September 10.

Subbamma had alleged that Sudhakar and others cheated her family members and took signatures on the documents. The matter in this regard is not only in the Civil Court but also in the High Court.

Subbamma alleged that despite this, Sudhakar and others came and vacated the house. When questions were raised on this, more than 35 people attacked him using caste based abuses.

Minister Sudhakar had clarified that he was not involved in the case of excesses. He had said, “I respect all castes and I have not committed any mistake.”

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, reacting to the incident, had said that the matter is of civil nature. There is a difference between intimidation and PCR. When I took information from the officials, I came to know that this is a false case. There is no need for Sudhakar to resign.

Shivkumar further said that whatever conspiracy the BJP hatches, it is a civil case. As the president of the Congress party in the state, I have got all the information about the matter. Sudhakar had purchased the land with consent.

During the elections a third party had set up a complex on that land. Sudhakar’s supporters had gone to save their land. A case of excess has been registered in this regard through PCR.
