Statue worth Rs 2 crore 50 lakh seized in Chhattisgarh, three arrested with car
Mahasamund: The police have arrested three inter-state smugglers who were smuggling the oldest idol of the Buddhist deity Avalokiteshvara Padmapani from the 10th-11th century. The price of the idol in the international market is approximately Rs 2 crore 50 lakh. It is being told that smugglers were stealing both the idols from the temple in Angul district, Odisha area. On receiving this information, the team of Singhoda police station and cyber cell police arrested the accused. The Archeology Department has confirmed that the statue of Avalokiteshvara Padmapani is from the 10th-11th century. The Archeology Department has declared the statue important from the point of view of art and archaeology.

Seeing the police party, the smugglers left the vehicle before the check post and started running away, which the police team surrounded and caught 03 persons. In this, 01 person fled from the spot. When asked the reason for running away after seeing the police party, the three youths started giving evasive and evasive answers.
