Karnataka Police issued notice to the youth who climbed the statue of freedom fighter and waved green flags
Dakshina Kannada (IANS). Police have issued a notice to a group of youth for climbing the statue of the freedom fighter and waving green flags during the Eid Milad procession.
Youths carrying green flags climbed the statue of freedom fighter Rani Abbakka in Mangaluru when an Eid Milad procession was taken out in Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district, police said on Tuesday. The video of the incident went viral on social media and created an uproar.
Ullal Police Circle Officer collected video footage of the incident, identified the youth and sent them notices to appear before the investigating officer. This incident happened on 28 September. Hundreds of youths climbed the statue and allegedly behaved disrespectfully.
Police said they had also blocked the road and honked their horns continuously without disturbing the public. Since Mangaluru is a communally sensitive city, the police immediately swung into action.
