If there was 40% commission in BJP government in Karnataka, it is 60% in Kerala: UDF
Thiruvananthapuram: Thousands of Congress-led UDF workers in Kerala on Wednesday laid siege to the state secretariat against the “corrupt” Pinarayi Vijayan government. During the protest, Congress leaders said how corruption has spread into every aspect of the Left government. “The previous BJP government in Karnataka was known as a 40 per cent commission government, the Vijayan government in Kerala has gone a step further and settled on 60 per cent commission,” he quipped. Addressing the protesters, state Congress president K. Sudhakaran said the state had seen communist rule before, but had never seen such a corrupt rule under Vijayan since 2016.
“This is the worst and most corrupt government the state has ever seen, which has brought it into disrepute because of all kinds of corrupt deals,” he said. No wonder Vijayan, who is a stain on the state, has gone into hiding.”
Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan said Kerala witnessed the celebrations at Vizhinjam port last Sunday and it was a shame to see Vijayan. Vijayan had alleged during Oommen Chandy’s 2011-16 tenure regarding the Vizhinjam port that it was a corrupt deal with the Adani Group. Satheesan said, “On Sunday, Vijayan came with the crane waving green flags and was seen welcoming the first ship. Whatever development took place in the state happened during the time of the UDF government and Vijayan is busy looting the state.”
MLA Ramesh Chennithala said that the huge attendance at the event shows that the people of Kerala are fed up with the Vijayan regime. Chennithala said, “Just see, ration shops are empty, there are no jobs and there is all-round anarchy in the state, the treasury is empty and nothing is happening. But Vijayan and his close associates are having fun by indulging in corrupt deals.”
This siege is the first phase and the UDF will now move to 140 assembly constituencies to express their anger against the Vijayan government at the grassroots level, he said.
