Don’t need to panic, our association’s 1,700 buses will function as usual: TN Omni Bus Owners Assn
CHENNAI: Hours after the Southern States Omni Bus Association made an announcement that Omnibuses won’t function today in the State from 6 pm onwards, the Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Owners Association has now announced that 1,700 Omnibuses under their association will function as usual and that public don’t need to panic regarding the strike.
“Omnibuses will function to facilitate the people who had travelled to their native places on the occasion of Ayudha Pooja holidays to return to Chennai. More than 1,500 buses are under our Union. Today morning, we suddenly heard news that Omnibuses won’t function after 6 pm. The strike by other unions is not linked to our association. People don’t need to panic. Our association’s 1700 buses will function as usual, said Maran, Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Owners Association at a press conference.
He added, “The impounding of Omni buses is true. That is due to the registration of buses in other states, which is creating losses for Tamil Nadu. We need government support. There is no strike. We don’t know about other association strikes. The Southern States Omni Buses Association is holding talks with the State Transport Minister SS Sivasankar regarding their strike.”
Earlier on Tuesday morning, the Southern States Omni Bus Association made an announcement that Omnibuses won’t function today in the State from 6 pm onwards. The association demanded the release of 120 impounded Omnibuses on “false grounds of high ticket price”.
