One person died due to fire while drinking petrol
Thoubal: A 55-year-old man died after he caught fire while drinking petrol under a burning candle at his shop at Wangjing Tekcham Leekai Phura Makhong in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Tuesday night.
Tekcham Sanhal Singh, 55, a small businessman, was running a shop at Wangjing Tekcham Likai in Thoubal district when the incident occurred. He suffered 90% burns and died soon after the incident, which occurred around 6 pm on Tuesday.
Singh was reportedly draining petrol from a bigger bottle into a smaller container using a small pipe. However, a candle kept nearby ignited the petrol, causing flames to rise and engulf Singh.
Despite efforts by onlookers to extinguish the fire, Singh succumbed to severe burns. The shop suffered partial damage in the incident, but was largely saved from further destruction.
