A few hours before the board exams, a class 10 student was found hanging
Bhubaneswar. A Class 10 student was found hanging in his hostel toilet on Tuesday, hours before the start of state board exams in Odisha’s Balangir district.
The deceased was a student of Vishwatma Vidyamandir in Kamakshi Nagar area of Sadar police station area. The roommates of the minor student saw his body hanging from the ceiling of the toilet. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. It is being told that the student committed suicide due to the pressure of board exams.
The hostel superintendent said, “Board exams started from Tuesday. A minor studying in class 10th had to appear in the examination. The deceased was a very good student. We still do not understand why he took such a step? Maybe he took this step due to study pressure, but the school never put any pressure on him. IIC Rajkumar Biswal of Sadar police station said, “We have started investigation after registering a case based on the complaint of the family members of the deceased. They suspect that the minor was murdered.”
The annual High School Certificate (HSC) or matriculation examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) began on Tuesday. More than 5.51 lakh students are appearing in the board exams scheduled to be held till March 4.
