Another NEET candidate dies by suicide in Kota
Kota: Another student preparing for NEET in Rajasthan’s coaching hub Kota has committed suicide by hanging herself, police said on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Nisha Yadav (21), a resident of Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh, who had come to Kota six months ago. His body was found at around 1.30 am on Thursday night in a private hostel in Mahavir Nagar area.
On November 27, Faurid Hussain (20), a NEET aspirant from West Bengal, committed suicide in the city, taking the number of students committing suicide in this education hub this year alone to more than 25.
To prevent suicide cases, the district administration had earlier issued guidelines for private hostels and coaching institutes, but its effect is not visible yet.
Nisha had talked to her father some time before taking this step. After this, when he called her again, she did not answer the call. After informing the hostel operator, the staff present in the building knocked on the door of Nisha’s room, but got no answer.
Hostel operator Shyam Peshwani told that when the staff broke the door, Nisha was hanging from the fan.
Peshwani told that there are 19 rooms in the hostel, in which about 12 girl students lived.
Nisha came to Kota in May and was initially living in Indra Vihar area.
ASI Kundan Kumar of Jawahar Nagar police station said that the exact reason behind Nisha taking such a big step is not yet known. After Diwali, the family members left Nisha in the hostel.
Nisha’s father Osan Singh and mother Saroj Devi, a farmer by profession, have reached Kota.
Meanwhile, District Collector Mahavir Prasad Meena has issued a notice to the coaching institutes concerned in the case of suicide by two NEET aspirants in three days.
In Faurid’s case the Collector has sought reply within three days. The notice states that during counseling on November 12, it was revealed that Faurid was suffering from depression. However, the institute did not inform the administration about the matter.
