Tamil Nadu Elections: Vijay updates his affidavit in his nomination for the Perambur seat

Tamil Nadu: Vijay, the Victory Party leader, has amended his affidavit after initially submitting his nomination for the Perambur Assembly seat. Vijay is contesting from both Perambur and Trichy East constituencies this time. When he filed his nomination for Perambur on March 30th, he provided details of his movable and immovable assets and claimed he had no criminal cases against him.

However, after filing his nomination for Perambur, a case was filed against him in Kolathur. Vijay later mentioned this Kolathur case and another case filed during the 2025 Tevaga Conference in Madurai in his affidavit for the Trichy East seat. He explained that he had not disclosed these cases when he filed his nomination for the Perambur seat.

As a result, Vijay submitted a new affidavit for the Perambur constituency, which also contains corrections to his property information. The amount of cash in hand listed as movable assets, which was previously listed at ₹2 lakh, has now been reduced to ₹1.10 lakh. Furthermore, the value of his vehicles and campaign caravan has been added, amounting to ₹6.25 crore. This change brings the total value of his movable assets from ₹404 crore to ₹410 crore.

The affidavit also updates the details of assets in the name of his wife, Sangeeta. Previously, she was listed as owning 2 kg of silver, valued at ₹25,000. The revised statement has increased its value to ₹4.75 lakh.

This change in Vijay’s nomination has provided the Election Commission with complete information about his assets and legal matters. This step is considered crucial to ensuring transparency under election rules.

In addition to contesting both seats, the Victory Party leader has made the amendment to his affidavit clear that he is fully disclosing information about his assets and legal matters. This also indicates that transparency and providing correct information in elections is important for them.
