New Delhi. Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that the entire mission is indigenous, it is living up to the mantra of self-reliant India. It will also reiterate India’s role as a leading global player, as a global player in the years to come. If all goes well, Chandrayaan will land on the lunar surface on August 23, 5.47 PM IST. ISRO chief S. Somnath has given this great information.
In this third lunar mission of India too, space scientists aim for ‘soft landing’ of the lander on the lunar surface. In the last moments during the ‘Chandrayaan-2’ mission, the lander ‘Vikram’ was not able to make a ‘soft landing’ due to path deviation. If this mission is successful this time, India will join the club of countries like America, China and former Soviet Union who have achieved such a feat. ISRO had earlier said that under the ‘Chandrayaan-3’ program, ISRO is going to set new records by performing ‘soft-landing’ on the lunar surface and rotation of the rover on the lunar terrain with the help of its lunar module. The LVM3M4 rocket was formerly known as GSLVMK3. The Chandrayaan-3 mission comprising an indigenous propulsion module, lander module and a rover aims to develop and demonstrate new technologies required for inter-planetary missions.
On the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3, PM Modi tweeted, “Chandrayaan-3 has written a new chapter in India’s space journey. It soars high lifting the dreams and ambitions of every Indian. This significant achievement is a testimony to the tireless dedication of our scientists. I salute his spirit and talent.
