BJP canceled the suspension, this statement came from MLA T Raja Singh
Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revoked the suspension of its Telangana MLA T. Raja Singh. The MLA was suspended last year for making derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammed. The BJP’s Central Disciplinary Committee on Sunday informed Raja Singh that it has decided to revoke his suspension.
The committee took the decision based on his response to the show cause notice issued to him following his suspension. Raja Singh shared the letter on ‘X’ and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president J.P. Nadda and other leaders. With the cancellation of the suspension, the way has been cleared to field Raja Singh in the assembly elections to be held next month. He is likely to contest the elections again from Goshamahal constituency of Hyderabad.
The MLA was arrested by the police in August last year for making some comments that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. He was sent to jail on 25 August.
Raja Singh was released from jail on 9 November after the Telangana High Court quashed the Police Commissioner’s order and granted him bail. However, the court directed him not to make any speech or comment that would create hatred between communities. Since the BJP delayed revoking his suspension, Raja Singh had told the state assembly in August this year that he would not contest the assembly elections.
Following his meeting with state Finance and Health Minister T. Harish Rao, speculation had started that he might join the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). However, he clarified that he has no plans to leave the BJP or contest the elections as an independent.
