Central team to visit flood-hit Telangana on Monday
Hyderabad (IANS). A team from the Center will visit Telangana on Monday to assess the damage caused by the floods. Union Tourism Minister and State BJP President G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday said the decision was taken by Union Home Minister Amit Shah after senior state BJP leaders met in New Delhi.
Kishan Reddy said that Amit Shah directed the Home Secretary to immediately send a high-level team to Telangana to assess the damage caused by the floods. The team will have officers from several ministries.
The team will visit the state from July 31 to make an on-the-spot assessment of the damages and relief work done by the state administration.
The team, headed by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) advisor Kunal Satyarthi, will include officials from departments such as agriculture, finance, water resources, power, road transport and highways and the National Remote Sensing Centre.
“Further, upon submission of the final memorandum by the Telangana government, the same central team will again visit the state for a detailed assessment of the damage and make a final recommendation for admissibility of additional central assistance in the wake of floods in Telangana.”
“The team will also recommend whether the calamity can be considered to be of ‘severe nature’,” said an office memorandum from the home ministry.
