Chandigarh: Two sentenced to 5 years in jail for snatching a phone

Chandigarh: A local court has sentenced two persons to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a snatching case. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the convicts Balbir Singh alias Gulla and Mahendra Singh. Sector 49 resident Akash Yadav said in the complaint that he works in Sector 28 Motor Market. On February 5 last year, he was talking on the phone near Sector 27/28/29/30 Chowk, when two boys coming on a motorcycle from behind snatched his mobile. He raised an alarm. A policeman coming on a bike chased the boys and caught them. The public prosecutor argued that the prosecution has proved the case. After hearing the arguments, the court convicted both of them and sentenced them to five years of rigorous imprisonment.
