Chief Minister Dhami holds meeting regarding rain, Chardham Yatra postponed for two days
Dehradun (IANS). The Chardham Yatra has been postponed for two days due to rains and landslides in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while taking a meeting of high officials at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday, directed that all should be on alert mode in view of heavy rains occurring in various areas.
He also obtained information from the officials about the areas affected by excessive rainfall and the relief and rescue works being done there. In view of heavy rains, Chardham Yatra has also been postponed for 2 days.
The Chief Minister has appealed to all the devotees to travel only after observing the weather forecast. The Chief Minister has prayed to God to grant peace to the souls of those who lost their lives in district Pauri due to excessive rains and patience to the bereaved families.
District administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue work. The Chief Minister has also instructed the district administration to provide proper treatment to the injured at the earliest.
He directed the officials to ensure that wherever damage is being done due to excessive rains in the state, the affected people get the compensation amount as soon as possible as per the norms. A complete assessment of the damage caused by excessive rains should be done in the state.
The Chief Minister is also constantly taking information from the District Magistrates regarding the damage caused due to heavy rains and preparations for relief and rescue operations. He has instructed all the District Magistrates that the district administration and all the rescue teams should be kept on alert mode for 24 hours.
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Special Principal Secretary Abhinav Kumar, Secretary R.K. Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, Dr. Ranjit Sinha, ADG A.P. Anshuman, Director General Information Banshidhar Tiwari and Additional Secretary Jagdish Chandra Kandpal were present.
