Congress and Trinamool leaders join BJP
Guwahati. More than 150 members of various parties in Assam, including Congress and Trinamool Congress, joined the ruling BJP on Saturday. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the newly inducted members, including several Congress leaders and state general secretaries of the Trinamool Congress. “Dynastic politics has no place in the BJP, which is the only party that works in the best interest of the country,” Sarma stressed.
Sarma wrote on his ‘X’ handle, “I have always emphasized that there is no place in dynastic and family-centric parties for those who want to work for India and Assam. Only BJP works in the interest of the country.” According to a BJP leader, more than 150 leaders and workers – most of them from the Congress – joined the BJP at a function held at the state party headquarters here. “Most of them work at the district and block level,” he said. He is the foundation of any party, and we are happy to have him in the BJP.”
