Daughter-in-law killed by hammer, man arrested

Bengaluru (IANS). Police have arrested a 70-year-old man from Karnataka’s Mysuru district for allegedly killing his daughter-in-law. According to the police, Ghantaiah, a resident of Harohalli village, was worried about his daughter-in-law’s job. Kavita (the victim) used to work as an attendant in a private college as her husband’s income was not sufficient.

The marriage of the deceased was 15 years. According to the police, the accused Ghantaiah did not like his daughter-in-law Kavita going out. Often there used to be a fight between the two regarding his work.

Suspecting the character of the daughter-in-law, the accused father-in-law attacked her with a hammer on Thursday evening, causing her death.

The accused has been arrested by the Varuna police and sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is on.
