Demand to seal Gyanvapi campus, petition rejected
Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the Uttar Pradesh government to seal the entire Gyanvapi complex without giving effect to the Varanasi court’s ASI survey order.
When the counsel for the petitioner prayed to approach the appropriate forum in accordance with law and file an application for the relief claimed in the PIL, the court allowed the petition to be withdrawn and dismissed. A bench of Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava passed the order.
A PIL was filed before the court last Wednesday, seeking a direction to the state government and the district administration to seal the entire Gyanvapi mosque without affecting the ASI survey. The petition was filed by Jitendra Singh “Visen”, Rakhi Singh and others.
