Doctors removed nails from prisoner’s stomach
Hyderabad: Doctors at Osmania General Hospital successfully removed the nail, rubber cap and two plastic-covered packets from the stomach of Chanchalguda jail inmate Mohammed Sohail (21) through endoscopy.
According to sources, Mohammad Sohail complained of severe stomach pain after which the police admitted him to the hospital. The doctors who conducted some tests on him referred the police to shift him to Osmania Hospital.
When the doctors did X-ray of Sohail, it was found that there were two nails in his stomach which he had swallowed two days ago. On Tuesday, doctors used endoscopy to remove the nails from Sohail’s stomach. Upon further investigation, two small rubber balls and two packets were found, which were also removed via endoscopy. The packets were tested for suspected presence of ganja.
Osmania Superintendent Dr Nagendra congratulated the team led by Dr B Ramesh, HVD, Department of Gastroenterology, for saving the life of the patient without resorting to surgery.
