Farmer dies due to tiger attack in Karnataka
Mysore (IANS). A farmer died after being attacked by a tiger in Mysore district of Karnataka. It is being told that he had gone to a forest area under Nagarhole National Park and Tiger Reserve to graze his cattle.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh (58), a resident of Uduvepura in Hunsur taluk.
When Ganesh did not return to his home on Monday evening, his family informed the forest department, after which a search operation was launched in the forest area.
The body of the deceased was found in the buffer area of Muddanahalli forest area.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Ganesh was attacked by the tiger and died due to his injuries.
The villagers who reached the spot had an argument with the department officials regarding their inaction in controlling the tiger menace in the area.
Tiger Project Director Harsh Kumar pacified the villagers by assuring them of action and advised them not to go near the forest area with their cattle.
JD(S) MLA from Hunsur G.D. Harish Gowda visited the spot and handed over a check of Rs 50,000 to the victim’s family.
