Firing between police and dacoits
Guwahati: A massive face-off broke out between local police personnel and an alleged gang of armed dacoits in a remote village named Nichinta in Goalpara district of Assam. The intense exchange of fire resulted in the tragic death of two suspected dacoits, along with the injury to a brave police officer.
The incident started based on specific intelligence inputs, which led the police to launch a coordinated operation against a notorious dacoit gang that was creating fear and havoc in the region. The primary objective of this operation was to apprehend criminals responsible for various criminal activities and maintain law and order.

As the police team cautiously moved towards the hideout of the dacoit gang, suddenly they were bombarded with bullets from the pre-prepared criminals. The dacoits, determined to resist being caught, opened fire on the approaching police personnel, triggering an intense and dangerous encounter.
In response to the sudden aggression, the police immediately responded with accurate and controlled gunfire. There was chaos and fear after the exchange of bullets, but in the end, the police managed to eliminate two members of the dacoit gang, who were shot dead on the spot.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Agiya police station, identified as Manoj Kumar Das, showed remarkable courage during the operation but did not survive. He was shot while leading his team, highlighting the dangerous nature of his mission to bring these criminals to justice.
One of the dead dacoits was identified as Amar Thapa, who had a long and dark criminal history. Amar was associated with GNLA (Garo National Liberation Army) in Meghalaya, a notorious terrorist group involved in various criminal activities. Amar had several cases registered against him, including murder and robbery charges. His death brought an end to a long and violent criminal career.
The second dacoit killed in the shootout was identified as Faridul Islam, whose background and criminal involvement have not been fully disclosed yet. Nevertheless, his involvement in the gang posed a significant threat to the safety and security of the area.
During the operation, the police also managed to seize a vehicle of the dacoit gang. This development is significant, as it could provide important clues and evidence that could aid further investigation and possible action against the remaining members of the gang.
Although the operation successfully eliminated the hideouts of two dangerous criminals and their gang, the broader circumstances surrounding the activities of the dacoit gang and any potential accomplices are yet to be revealed.
