First husband said divorce 3 times, did not marry even after Iddat
Yamunanagar. A case of cruelty to a woman by her in-laws has come to light in Budiya police station area. The victim woman has accused six people from her in-laws, including her husband, of beating her and raping her. A Maulvi is also included among the accused. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the woman. It is alleged that the husband asked her for divorce thrice. After complaining to the police, a compromise was reached. Later, at the behest of the Maulvi, the brother-in-law raped her in the name of Halala.
In the complaint given to the police, the woman told that she was married to a man resident of the village of Budiya police station area in the year 2001. In November 2021, her husband and others attacked her. Her husband had thrown her out of the house by pronouncing talaq thrice. On which he had given a complaint in Karnal police station. The police had registered a case there, but later the husband agreed to keep her with him. Then the husband had said that after triple talaq, he would keep her with Muslim Shariat and Halala.
Later the husband started saying that he cannot keep her together without following Shariat and asked her to observe Iddat for five months.
She also did this, but even after Iddat, her husband did not remarry her. The woman told the police that on March 10, her husband, brother-in-law, another family member brought a Maulvi to the house. The Maulvi told him that either he or his brother-in-law could do Halala. Then he locked Jeth and him in the room. During this time, the brother-in-law raped her. Threatened not to tell this to anyone, but he complained about it to SP Karnal.
Even after that an agreement was reached between both the parties. When she came to her in-laws’ house, she started being beaten. The husband also beat the children. Even her jewelery was snatched away. Somehow he told the whole thing to his brother on the phone. The brother reached his in-laws’ house and took her with him to his home. A complaint was given to Karnal police station, but from there the complaint was transferred to Budiya.
Budiya police station registered a case. Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police Gangaram Poonia said that an FIR from Karnal district was transferred to Yamunanagar. In which the victim has registered a case against 8 people from her in-laws on various charges including rape, assault, Muslim Women Protection Act. He told that the victim’s statement will be made in the court. Investigation and action will be taken accordingly.
