Former IAS officer Divya Mittal has announced her entry into politics and will begin a new chapter in Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow. Former IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre Divya Mittal has put an end to the ongoing speculations regarding her next move. Divya Mittal, who came into limelight after suddenly resigning from administrative service, announced her entry into politics by releasing a video on social media platform X on Tuesday morning. She made it clear that she will stay in Uttar Pradesh only and will start her political innings from here. However, she has not yet made a final announcement regarding which political party she will go with or form an independent political platform.
Divya Mittal had already announced that she would make her future plans public on the morning of September 29. After this, on Tuesday morning he released a video saying that he has decided to stay in Uttar Pradesh and work among the people and remain active in public life through politics. After his announcement, to a large extent, the discussions that had been going on for the last several weeks came to an end, in which the possibilities of him going abroad, taking up a corporate job, starting coaching or entering active politics were being expressed.
Divya Mittal said in the video that she is not afraid of any pressure. He expressed his views openly regarding the system, government accountability and problems of common people. His statement also appeared to be a response to the allegations made earlier by some people associated with the BJP. However, he did not make any official announcement of joining any party nor did he tell any particular party as his political destination.
After the resignation, a big political claim was made about Divya Mittal that she had met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and only after that she decided to leave the administrative service. This claim came to light through a social media post by BJP-affiliated advocate and spokesperson Prashant Umrao. This claim was not independently verified at the time. Now Divya Mittal has also reacted to this discussion and indicated that it is not right to link her decision to any alleged political meeting.
Divya Mittal had resigned from the Indian Administrative Service on 30 August 2026. Her resignation was later accepted and with effect from September 15, she was completely relieved of administrative responsibilities. At the time of resignation, he had mentioned personal reasons, family priorities and new goals in life. At that time he had not immediately confirmed his entry into politics.
After her resignation, there was a continuous discussion going on in the politics of Uttar Pradesh that she may join any big political party before the 2027 assembly elections. There was speculation on social media about contesting elections from Mirzapur or Deoria. Divya Mittal herself also mentioned these discussions and said that people are making various speculations about her future.
Divya Mittal has been a 2013 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He held the responsibility as District Magistrate in districts like Mirzapur, Deoria and Sant Kabirnagar. During her administrative service, she remained in the news due to many local projects and works related to basic facilities in rural areas. Before her resignation, she was posted as Special Secretary in the Revenue Department in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Regarding her new political journey, Divya Mittal has talked about giving priority to the problems of common people. He mentioned issues like accountability in government offices, lack of basic facilities in rural areas, employment of youth and problems related to competitive examinations. She says that she wants to become the voice of such people whose voice does not reach the system.
Divya Mittal has definitely announced her entry into politics, but she has not yet taken membership of any existing political party. According to available information, she is also considering the option of creating a new political platform with the common people. Therefore, there is no official confirmation at present regarding his joining BJP, Congress, Samajwadi Party or any other party.
The most talked about thing about his entry into politics is that he chose the political path just a few weeks after leaving the administrative service. On the other hand, Divya Mittal is calling this the next phase of her public life. She has indicated that she will now try to raise the problems which she saw closely while in administrative service, on the political platform.
Now his stand has also come out on the claims made by people associated with BJP regarding his resignation and alleged Congress connection. He has given the message of not backing down from any kind of pressure and deciding one’s political path independently. However, different political parties may react differently to his statements and derive political meaning from them.
At present it is clear that Divya Mittal has chosen the path of active politics instead of leaving Uttar Pradesh or going back to a corporate job. Now the biggest question is whether she will become a part of any established political party or prepare her own platform. He has not yet opened his cards on this. In the coming days, the picture regarding their organization, political agenda and electoral role is expected to become clearer.
