Gadchiroli police killed two Naxalites in a fierce encounter
Maharashtra: Two Naxalites were killed in an hour-long encounter with police near Gadchiroli on Thursday afternoon. Police have seized an AK 47 and SLR. One of these accused was involved in the attack on a police party in Gadchiroli in 2019, in which 15 policemen were martyred.
According to Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Nilotpal, a credible intelligence was received on Thursday that a large contingent of Naxalites was on the Chhattisgarh border near Bodhintola, about ten kilometers from the last outpost Godalwahi, near Mohalla Manpur in Manpur district of Chhattisgarh with the intention of carrying out sabotage. Some Naxalites involved in firing fled from the spot: Police
“After receiving the information, four C-60 commando squads and a CRPF squad were immediately sent to the spot to conduct search operations in the area. When the police teams were searching the area, they were attacked indiscriminately by the Naxalites around 3 pm. “Firing was done. Police forces retaliated,” a police officer said. The firing continued for about an hour. Some Naxalites involved in the firing fled from the spot.”
“A search of the area recovered the bodies of two male Naxalites carrying an AK47 and an SLR weapon respectively. One of them, who was carrying an AK47 rifle, was identified as Durgesh Vatti, deputy commander of Kasansur Dalam, who was among them. One was the key conspirator of the Jambulkheda blast, in which 15 Gadchiroli police personnel were martyred in 2019. The police were searching for him for a long time. Those killed were identified as Bitlu Madavi and Srikanth alias Podya Uike and Vasu. Both Srikant and Vasu were residents of Bastar and Bitlu was a resident of Visamundi, Gadchiroli.
